Overall, I enjoyed it a lot.
I loved portrayal of relationship dynamics in a strained marriage with children. The premise is obviously dope. I loved the racial diversity that didn’t feel like it was checking off a box to satisfy certain demographics. I enjoyed the writing itself and LOVED all the foreshadowing. The ending was fantastic as well.
The main character is very unlikeable. I think Due tried to balance him out, but it didn’t work well. Especially the random homophobic internal monologue he had towards the end of the book; it was so odd because it really didn’t contribute to the story or his character at all. He was already disliked by then, lol.
It’s also a very slow burn. I thrive off character development and relationship dynamics, so I was entertained the entire time. But I could see someone getting bored with it.
Outside of that, I just want to know more about the premise itself! Even my dislikes didn’t really distract from my overall enjoyment.
Have you read this book? What are your thoughts?
