I’d like to find a book which celebrates the toil and troubles of life, or a life of honest work. Something similar might be “Narcissus and Goldmund” by Herman Hesse, though I would like the majority of the novel to be exploring work/responsibility, not its antithesis as in the aforementioned novel. Some writers I enjoy are Hemingway and Murakami. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them!
