So I want to start working my way towards Harry Potter (I have never read / watched it before), my only exposure to the fantasy genre is Percy Jackson, and even that is stretching it. What are some series you can recommend? I’m perfectly fine with convoluted jargon and worldbuilding.

Since you mentioned Percy Jackson and Harry Potter, are you just looking for fantasy for younger readers? Or adult fantasy?
My favorite fantasy series is [Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend, and I definitely recommend it!
You can just start with Harry Potter. I don’t think you need to work your way up to it. It’s a children’s series, and while some of the books are pretty long, they are still easy reads.
Eragon series/The Inheritance Cycle, same thing but the first is more common knowledge. Im in my 3rd reading of it cause i find it so good. Similar to harry potter in that its written for a you ger crowd. Murtagh is his most recent release from last year haven’t read that yet
Anything tolkien. I’m very biased towards tolkien so take this woth a grain of salt. Lord of the rings is a great series but very hard to read. The Hobbit is much easier. The silmarillion is good once you’re out of the creation of the gods and Middle earth part
I’ve heard good things about a few other series but I haven’t read em. Wizards of earthsea. Kingkiller chronicles. Anything Brandon Sanderson
Try Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. It’s an easy read but not YA, and is a kind of urban fantasy like the other series you mentioned
