I just finished the perfect marriage by jeneva rose and… literally probably the worst book I’ve ever read. On a structural level the characters are flat archetypes and there are so many plot holes, and don’t even get me started on the writing. There are words that are used incorrectly, changes in tense that don’t make sense and clunky attempts at ✨symbolism✨ (but it’s not really symbolism if you have to come out and say what it’s supposed to mean multiple times) I was looking forward to this one and was so wildly disappointed. Does anyone have any better thriller recommendations? I also read the guest list and the silent patient and didn’t love those either (although tsp is certainly levels above the former two in terms of quality) I’ve really enjoyed Gillian Flynn in the past and liked some of the Dublin murder squad books. Mainly looking for a well written thriller with interesting and developed characters!!

    1. Anything by Irish writer Steve Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn series or his standalone kill for me, kill for you. Or alternatively anything by Linwood Barclay.

FWIW I really enjoyed The Perfect Marriage but it’s each to their own at the end of the day.

    2. I don’t know whether these would be clasisifed as thrillers or mysteries or whatever, but still:

      Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

Also Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
