So my little cousin (11M) has a deadbeat dad who consistently lets him down by promising gifts and time spent together and rarely delivers on his promises. This breaks my little cousin’s heart over and over because he always gets his hopes up and it always ends with him being extremely upset and taking it out on his mom. I was wondering if there’s a book out there, sort of in the same vein as “Why Does He Do That” that will help my cousin understand his dad’s behaviour. I’ve heard that that book has been very useful for women dealing with abusive men because it shows them that it’s a pattern of behaviour and that it isn’t their fault. I think something like this would be very useful for my cousin but I figure the themes of Why Does He Do That might be too mature for him. I’m hoping there might be a book out there about someone talking about their own experiences with their dad or something to that effect. I would be extremely grateful if someone could suggest me a book that might help his situation! Thanks so much <3
