I really liked reading The Hunger Games trilogy when I was younger which prompted me to search for other dystopian novels.

I came across Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I persisted with the first novel through to the end and I’d probably give it a 3.5/5. My main criticisms were that the world building seemed mediocre, I never felt much empathy for the main characters, the romance felt contrived, & also some plot points/characters just didn’t seem particularly realistic. The concept was awesome but that was its major redeeming point.

I just tried getting into The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and after 10% of the way through I’ve decided I won’t be reading any more. I don’t like the tone and the pacing seems odd.

If you’ve read any really good books possibly from the dystopian genre that you’ve recently read pls lmk in the comments. Thanks!
