For that matter, Lenú’s lack of spine thus far is driving me mad. But when it comes to Lila, I feel I am both jealous that I do not have her strengths and harassed by how few redeeming qualities I see in her. She may be awesome, but what does she do that isn’t selfish? And from an outside perspective, why should I care that she is smart if she is mean? (Again I’m just half way through the second book).
I’m loving these novels, but I myself feel like an emotional child while reading them. Probably s because Lenú is still a young narrator? Maybe I’m just a bad feminist.
