I’m going through a hard time (parent is seriously unwell, job is all over the place, I work long hours in a hospital, house move about to fall through). There have been several posts like this recently but I fear I am rather picky! I have always turned to books as a form of mindfulness and relaxation – would anyone have any suggestions for an uplifting read?
Requirements: paperback and relatively short (<350 pages ideally as I have a long, standing commute on public transport so the lighter the better!). Fiction or non-fiction. Must be easy to get into as I have limited energy/ability to concentrate at the moment.
Some feavourite reads: Remarkably Bright Creatures, The Anthropocene Reviewed, Miss Benson’s Beetle, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, To Kill a Mockingbird, Educated, Factfulness, Hyperbole and a Half
Commonly recommended books I couldn’t get into (I am in the minority, I know!!): House in the Cerulean Sea, Anxious People, Hitchhiker’s, Pride and Prejudice, All the Light We Cannot See, Lessons in Chemistry
Thank you in advance
