I like to read before I go to bed, but I have the unfortunate habit of “just one more chapter” so all of a sudden it’s after midnight….. so far, my go to books to prevent this are “Shipwrecks of the Americas” a list of shipwrecks from 1492 to 1825, lists type of ship, cargo, just a couple of lines, a few pages has me yawning. Also a book of baby names. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    1. A poem book has always done the trick for me and you also get really nice lines to carry with you!

I like short story collections for this reason. The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson is excellent, as is anything by Ray Bradbury.

I also struggle with “just one more chapter” and I find short story collections are good for reading before bed! That way you can still get a full interesting story and have a clear start and stop point

I really like this book but the audiobook absolutely puts me to sleep! The Western Wind. The pace is slow so even if you’re reading the print version I think it could help you fall asleep.

    5. i just was listening to the gunslinger the first dark tower book by stephen king, and was so tired i passed out but the narrator for that book has a really nice deep soothing voice. you can set the libby app to turn off after a certain number of minuets in case you fall asleep.

I had trouble staying awake in the study hall while battling this book!
