It’s been 3 months since I’ve started reading. I usually delve into non fiction books

I’ve finished 4 books so far

I enjoy it a lot, but there is a small issue

I like to read more like a researcher than for fun

I don’t know why but I’m always on the lookout for great insights or ‘aha’ moments and I write them down or highlight them within the book

For me a book is like an island where I have to hunt for the treasure and when I find it I store it / write it.

Idk when I’m going to use all these notes but I like taking them down lol

I know many people read just for enjoyment and don’t bother about notes

I don’t like doing that. I’m obsessed with taking notes and then writing them digitally into Apple Notes or Obsidian

It’s almost like I feel someday I might use these to explain someone else the terms I’m learning or to maybe start a newsletter or maybe a blog

    Maybe not.

Is this research-based mindset good or shall I change it and become more casual and forget about notes?

Taking notes from books might make you understand less from.them. taking a few notes is good, but doing it obsessively can mean you hyperfocus on them and sometimes miss nuances

    2. Do whatever gives you the most pleasure. If this is how you like to read, then keep doing it. I personally am the complete opposite. I read for the pleasure I have in the moment, and I’m fine with just walking away with a better understanding of a subject instead of specific details.
