I finished Annihilation. I am getting into dystopian fiction/sci-fi. I like the ecological aspect of Annihilation, and I am wondering if there are any books that have a similar theme. Or must reads of this genre!
Bonus points for female authors:) thanks!

I’m not 100% sure if this will fit into exactly what you want, but I HIGHLY suggest The Institute by Stephen King. It’s sci-fiesque and was a great read
_Parable of the Sower_ and _Parable of the Talents_ by Octavia Butler.
Martha Wells’ *Murderbot Diaries* series of sci-fi novellas. Not dystopian. They follow a dead-pan humor cyborg that hires out as security to humans at the edge of the galaxy. The first one is **All Systems Red**.
Out of the Earth series by Jake Bible. 4 books: Out of the Earth, Out of the Sky, Out of the Fire, & Out of the Stars
Giant monsters emerge from the earth and start the end of the world as we know it. A higher intelligence has other plans though and humanity is forced to make dire choices in order to survive, if that’s even possible?!
This series follows a variety of people, in different locations and positions of power across the country, as they all struggle through the chaos and destruction in a desperate attempt at survival. Lots of cussing throughout the books… but given the circumstances the characters are in, I’d cuss a lot too🤷♂️
Try climate fiction: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_fiction
The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi
Also, see eco-fiction: https://www.tor.com/2020/11/10/ten-eco-fiction-novels-worth-discussing/
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin
Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson
Grass by Sheri S. Tepper
Second the Parable duology by Octavia E. Butler. Also, Butler, in general.
