    1. These aren’t books that you would read for an hour — but in the newborn stage my kiddo’s favorites first were high-contrast black and white board books like “Hello Baby Animals.”

      Next, she started to really like high-contrast color books with felt flaps like “Where’s the Owl.”

      Roger Priddy’s “See Touch Feel” was another hit within the first 6 months.

      Oliver Jeffers does some really nice picture books that he specifically wrote for his own kids when they were born. They’re about being a parent and his thoughts and hopes about/for his kids.

      I loooooooooooved anything by Dr. Seuss as a kid, and as an adult, i love reading them to my nice and nephew. I’m so glad i was surrounded by such wonderful and wholesome books as a child. My personal favorites:
      – one fish two fish red fish blue fish
      – green eggs and ham
      – the lorax
      – the places you’ll go
      – yertle the turtle and other stories
