Recently, I went to a local book store’s “In Foreign Language” section and bought a Japanese history book that caught my eye. When I got home, I realized that the (who I assume to be) original owner’s name, grade, and pencilled in notes were faded but still legible, making me realize this was somebody’s textbook.

After doing some digging online, I realized this book was much older than I anticipated, and now I feel the need to take extreme care in maintaining this book’s overall condition, even if it is outdated. As a randomly clumsy person, how do I go about that? I realize shelving it and never reading it is an option, but even that would never be enough.
