Books that are simplistic, but still hold up today! I would like more sophisticated books (etc not magic tree house) but they don’t have to be LOTR. Some of the books i enjoy on here are a lot more spectacle than story, but somehow i still love them.
I’m thinking like percy jackson, renegades, a deadly education, red queen, etc.
Ideally the character would be in their teens.

[Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend! It’s middle grade, not YA, but I figure you might be ok with that since you mentioned Percy Jackson. It’s my absolute favorite series, even as an adult, and I highly recommend it 🙂
And a series I’d recommend where the characters are actually teens is [Unwind](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/13643974-53b8-40c5-82f9-553b746d3669) by Neal Shusterman
The Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni. She’s Australian so I don’t think the books were as big here in the US but they are really good.
As far as series go, I remember loving:
•The Jenna Fox Chronicles
•Life As We Knew It
•The Selection
For more one off books I really enjoyed:
•Fever 1793
•The Night Parade
•Nightfall
•The Siren
Most of these I read more as preteen than teen, but I still enjoy them today as an adult. I still tend to gravitate towards YA rather than Adult books
Lonely castle in the mirror – mizuki tsujimura. All the main characters are teens. It’s Japanese so it did take a bit to get my head around some of the cultural aspects that they stress over that most western societies don’t (such as how informal/formally they should address people etc)
