You’ve been tasked with putting a single book into the voyager space craft, something which in all liklihood, will out endure the human race itself.
What one book would you choose to represent the everlasting evidence of humanities existence? Personally, I wouldn’t pick some rainbow story about ‘hope’, I’d pick something which best represented humanity, the good and the bad.
Some of my contenders are as follows…
Small Gods – I don’t believe any author understood humanity better than Sir Terry. Gnu.
2666 – I believe this to best the first great book of this century. The part about the crimes, is humanity, wherever we like it or not.
Foundation – An ideal of humanity, but also a warning of its true nature.
Contact – To show we have always looked towards the stars.
Slaughterhouse V – Again, the bad and the good.
