I’ve just started scratching the surface on philosophy and I feel like there’s so much to learn about how I want to view this world. I’m looking for books that will force me to think, give me new tools on how to lead your life, examine this world in a different way, and a deeper understanding of human behavior.
At the end of the day I want to be mind-fucked.

On the Genealogy of Morality by Friedrich Nietzsche is a critical look at the general moral framework adopted in modern Western society.
If you live in the West and haven’t thought too much about moral principles we all tend to live by, it could certainly force you to think and examine human behavior.
How about : The Pig That Wants to Be Eaten by Julian Baggini? It’s an intro to philosophy, giving you a collection of very short essays/thought experiments that introduce you to the main ideas of philosophy, in an entertaining and though-provoking way. It’s not a kids’ book, it’s for adults, but for adults who may never have read any philosophy before, or very little. I loved this book and it’s the gateway book for many who are interested in this subject.
Hubert L. Dreyfus. Background Practices: Essays on the Understanding of Being.
The gulag archipelago, it’s a nonfiction account of one man’s experience in the Soviet gulag prison system but focuses more on the ideologies of evil human nature
“The Snow Leopard” by Peter Matthiessen.
True Believer by Eric Hoffer. Not exactly a philosophy book, more like group psychology. Eye-opening. A classic.
