Hello fellow readers! I’m looking for fiction suggestions for books about capable lost tribes in the political-action genre, stories that are set in exotic places, like the jungle, or an island, or difficult to access highlands.
Any ideas?
I’ve found lots of great books, but they are mostly nonfiction (Lost City of Z, Lost City of the Monkey God, The Mapmaker’s wife), but I haven’t been able to find any novels. TIA

*The People in the Trees* by Hanya Yanagihara is about a lost tribe who may/may not have found a way to live forever. The tribe is in the jungle of an island that is part of a small Pacific nation. Very political, in what is probably the best aspect of the novel. There are other sub-plots that are distasteful.
at play in the fields of the lord by Peter Matthiessen is small-p political … I guess. not exactly lost tribe but very remote wilderness. american missionaries go off to bring Jesus into the Amazon rain forest.
