okay so, i finished reading the secret history yesterday and ever since then, ive been trying to figure out a couple of things that still slip my mind.

the biggest thing of course, is the ending—
what did henry mean with ‘having troubles with my passport’, was the destroyed, decayed city and the futuristic street a symbol for henry being stuck in limbo, sort of between old and new?

not to mention, the night of the bacchanal, they all mentioned being in a dream-like state where they could not explain what exactly they felt.
ever since then, i feel like this reoccurring leitmotiv of ‘dream’ has played a significant role.
after bunny’s death, charles (or francis, I don’t remember exactly) mention that he’s seen richard in his dream, it is never picked up again afterwards.

and in the end, when richard sees the ghost of henry, or when he sees him in h i s dream, saying ‘i thought you were dead’, does it mean that he was connected to them in some way?
considering just like they did for the rituals, richard also did go days without food due to the group’s sudden change of plans etc.

id love to hear someone’s opinion, this book is messing with my head.
im pretty sure many many things are of importance and play into it that *i* don’t get because my knowledge of mythology and rituals is very limited!
but id love to hear different opinions.
(also english is not my first language, don’t slander my grammar)
