A friend’s birthday (19M in some time) is coming up, and he mentioned wanting to get into reading books. So I’m going to gift him a book or two, but I can’t decide which ones. He mentioned being interested in Russian literature. I could think of a few books, but I don’t want to risk overwhelming him with some tedious and difficult book :’)
This is what I could shortlist, please help me narrow this down, or any new suggestions are welcome as well:
The master and margarita
The Brothers Karamazov
The Death of Ivan Ilyich
Crime and Punishment
notes from underground
The Dream Life of Sukhanov
Day of the Oprichnik
Heart of a dog
The Winter Queen by Boris Akunin
Metro 2033
The Doomed City by the Strugatsky brothers
Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
also sidenote, if it helps: he is drawn towards thriller, suspense, psychological thriller genres in case of movies (idk if this is useful info or not)
thankyou!
