I hate when I read a wonderful book, then look forward to the movie and it just doesn’t compare (example: Glass Castles… book great ,movie was a bummer)

However, I loved Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children book and then the movie was awesome too.

Would love some recommendations on books to read and then followup with a great movie.

I’m a big Murakami fan but didn’t think much of his *Men Without Women* collection. Definitely his weakest short stories. However, the film adaptation of “Drive My Car” was absolutely amazing.

Not a film but the very recent Netflix mini series of Boy Swallows Universe is an excellent adaptation. Really captures the characters and the heart of the book.

Emma with Anya Taylor Joy is a good one too, as is the BBC mini series with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller.

Passing with Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson is a good adaptation of the Nella Larson book.

Mudbound from a few years ago with Mary J Blige and Carey Mullingan is maybe even better than the book.

Normal People is another good one.

An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) is a beautiful adaptation of Claire Keegan’s book Foster.

    3. The Thing (1982) / *Who Goes There?* by John W. Campbell

Blade Runner (1982) / *Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?* by Philip K Dick

They Live (1988) / *Eight O’Clock in the Morning* by Ray Nelson

Shawshank Redemption (1994) / *Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption* by Steven King
