Is it a stunning cover? A great summary? Seems interesting? That it’s funny? Or other?
I guess I’m curious especially about the odd things that might attract us as readers to a book. We all know the “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”-line. But I think we still do.I’d like to find a better way to find good books, and I’m looking for suggestions.
Right now, I’ll read anything as long as it seems interesting. Like it has some real thought and effort put into the story. Even if I prefer fiction, I’ll read most things that catch my interest.

I watch some booktube best ofs and if something gets recommended enough and seems up my alley, I’ll watch that. It tends to be more fantasy/scifi/romance oriented than what I might normally read, though.
I also go by word of mouth from friends and family I trust, but they don’t read as much as me.
I appreciate a good cover, but don’t really read based on that. It might get me to read the description though. Some covers definitely turn me off of reading a book though.
Summaries! and i look up things on google such as “is **** a mystery?” “Is ***** fantasy?” “Is ****** lgbt?” “Is ***** slow or fast paced?” “Does **** have plot twists?” And usually it gives me the answer which makes me excited! Also ratings and no spoiler reviews. I research alot before reading a book bc i dont wanna waste money on a book i wont enjoy.
