I grew up loving this film to the moon. It was one of the few movies my family owned so I watched it on repeat before the streaming era. I recently read the book and was really surprised. I think the general consensus is that books are better than movies, and in this case I think both the movie and the book are great.
There were a few changes they made in the movie though that I didn’t realize until I read the book. First, Alan Grant doesn’t mind kids at all in the book but in the movie they make him seem like he thinks kids are the worst. Second, I thought it was odd they focused on Doctor Henry Wu in Jurassic World, but had no idea he was such a pivotal character in the book. The books depiction of dinosaurs was honestly terrifying instead of mystifying. And I really appreciated how much research Michael Crichton put into this novel. 40+ year later this book hasn’t aged aside from some of his comments around super computers. But how could anyone know where tech was headed in the future.
What were some major differences you noticed in this adaption?
