Let’s say I read a novel that I really love. Then I look up thei author’s Wikipedia article and find out that they are this or that political party, this or that religion, an activist for this or that cause, made this or that tweet, or had this or that for breakfast.
It feels like it cheapens their “mystery”. The banality feels like it degrades the “authority” of their voice. I wish authors just let their works speak for themselves. Honestly, I’d prefer to not know anything about them. I don’t even need to see their pictures. Anyone with me on this?
