What is a good fantasy book that can heal my inner child? I want where it’s around the medieval time period with castles with open world traveling and deep friendships, true genuine love and fighting for humanity. Thank you in advance!

Have you read the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce?
The wheel of time series.
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster was one of my favourites growing up!
Obligatory but Lord of the Rings lol.
I really enjoyed Anthony Ryan’s “The Covenant of Steel” series. The main character Alwyn is a young, scrapy outlaw that eventually finds himself in the role of scribe to a beautiful warrior priestess. It has plenty of action, politics, and “good vs evil” to keep me entertained.
I just finished “Pillars of the Earth” by Ken Follett. It’s fictitious, about the building of a cathedral in 12th century England and the lives of those affected by its creation. Lots of politics, war, and general acts of God make it almost impossible to build. Great characters and subplots going on.
This is out there, but my all-time favorite series is the “Lightbringer” series by Brent Weeks. It’s sort of like 16th century-ish (they have flintlock muskets and pistols). It’s a magic heavy world, and magic use is based on the colored spectrum of light. Heavy overtones of Magic The Gathering, the card game. The whole story is based on the prophecy of The Lightbringer, someone who will essentially right and unite the world. It’s an incredible story, always kept me on my toes! Fantastic characters! And the dialogue had me both laughing and crying! I always recommend it to anyone looking for fantasy. First book is The Black Prism.
Here are a few good ones:
“The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood (Canada)
“The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka (Czech Republic)
“Before the Coffee Gets Cold” by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (Japan)
“Frankenstein in Baghdad” by Ahmed Saadawi (Iraq)
“Fever Dream” by Samanta Scweblin (Argentina)
“Journey To The Center Of The Earth” by Jules Verne (France)
And 200 [more fantasy books](https://readaroundtheworldchallenge.com/books/genres-by-name/fantasy) here where those came from.
