Hi! My mom, 54 years old, is currently into reading because of Facebook. Yes, Facebook. There’s an app called MoboReader and she have paid tons already just to continue reading a book. Long story short, my mom stopped due to the never ending fees of the said app (she wasn’t able to finish the book). It’s not subscription based, and you would need to buy coins every single time, which is very exhausting.
My mom is into romance, comedy, and a little bit of action. I am into fantasy and sci-fi, which is kind of opposite to my mom’s taste. I’m scared that I might suggest something steamy based off of something I’ve searched on the internet, so I really need help in gathering suggestions for my mom.
Thanks in advance!

The Miss Fortune series by Jana DeLeon
The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich
Books by Jennifer Crusie. They are witty and funny romances that aren’t spicy. The MCs are intelligent and stressed out and usually have families/wrinkles/other evidence that they are human.
Try Bet Me, Agnes and the Hit Man, Anyone But You, Faking It, or Fast Women.
Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto
This is a romantic comedy with a twist because it involved murder. But its so lighthearted and quirky and a touch awkward. But it ends up being about more than one love story! It did surprise me a little at the end, but overall found it very satisfying? Its not something I would typically read but I can passionately recommend it.
PLEASE let me know if your mom reads it and what she thinks!
You can also ask in r/romancebooks !
Also, romance.io is a huge database of romances – you can search by type (contemporary, historical, fantasy, sci-fi), spice level (closed door to explicit) and by trope!
Perhaps your mom should get a Kindle and a Kindle unlimited subscription? Probably save her money in the long run over the FB scummy scam thing!
