This book was a lot. I absolutely love it although I’m deeply saddened by how it happened, as well as how people were treating Charlie the whole time.
I work with young kids and reading about how he was treated and his own behavior reminded me of the kids I’ve seen and currently work with that aren’t too different from Charlie and while I generally treat everyone the same I am going to be a lot more conscious of how those kids in particular are treated.
God this book is a masterpiece and probably should be mandatory reading for anyone in education or psychology. Plenty of people would’ve benefitted by reading this in highschool as well, honestly.
An absolute masterpiece.

Oh geez that book has haunted my thoughts for 20 years. What a masterpiece
Overrated I know I’m gonna get downvotes for this but the truth is **It didn’t move me I mean I understand it is probably one of the most recommended books but I guess I grew up in age of seeing the movie lawnmower Man** 🍿.
(I saw the book is one of these **hippie kind of social documentary** type books about people with mental illness and how we should feel bad about people having these illnesses and I get it I’m not totally oblivious to the fact that we should understand that mental illness is a serious thing) I have read many books that moved me even to tears and I have to say I felt worse for the little mouse 🐁 than I did for Charlie
I still have this book in my physical collection and I hold it as a great read but it’s not one of those things that I would put on a pedestal.
I kind of knew the writing on the wall when I heard him say that he wanted to become smarter because he wanted more friends I already knew that most smart people are lonely people in the world so I said to myself this is not going to end well.
So let the Downvotes begin I have no problem with that I’m only expressing my own true feelings about the novel and how it did not have the effect that perhaps it has other people but again I am expressing my own thoughts about this book, and I’m more than happy to embellish or get into a deeper conversation about the book with anyone if they care for that ☝️
