Dark/Gritty books? Preferably revenge based?

Hey all, looking for something new to read (obviously.)

– Looking for something that gets a bit edgier, but also isn’t gorey/over the top/edgy just for the sake of being edgy, yknow?
– I love steampunk/clockpunk/similar aesthetics, especially ones with economic divides and such, but it’s not a “requirement”.
– Magic isn’t a complete no-go, but I’d prefer If there wasnt any. If there is, itd be in lowkey and subtle ways/powers.
– I’d really prefer 1st person (past or present doesn’t matter) but again, like the other things, isn’t 100% a “requirement.”
