Arctic exploration gone wrong is fascinating to me, but I’d also be intrigued by a jungle adventure mishap or something along those lines.
Basically, I want true stories about people that are stuck in a deadly environment and have to survive until they’re rescued or make it back to civilization.
**I’d also prefer it not be something super recent. 1800s and earlier would be ideal, but early 1900s could be fine.**
Examples that I’ve read:
* Endurance – Alfred Lansing
* The Indifferent Stars Above – Daniel James Brown
* In the Kingdom of Ice – Hampton Sides (I actually disliked this book somewhat, but it definitely fits)
Books already on my list:
* The Wager – David Grann
* The River of Doubt – Candice Millard
I’m not interested in general exploration, like The Lost City of Z (which I didn’t find very good anyway).
And I know it’s fiction, but I also know people will recommend it anyway. The Terror is my favorite book. I have read The Martian and Project Hail Mary. Just need non-fiction, please.
EDIT – bolded the time part of the request…
