    Hi everyone!

As a fellow binge reader, I have a list of books to read with more than 100 titles with different genres etc…

So each time I finish a book I’m struggling so hard with what should I read next. I’m so clueless for what I want to read bc I love so much different genres (romance, sci-fi, horror, thrillers, classics etc…)

Do you guys have any “” method”” to decide what you want to read next when you have a long long long list of books to read?

    Thank you in advance 🙂
(also sorry English is not my mothertongue)

I have this same issue, I ask other people to pick for me, particularly my husband, he doesn’t read much, but he will pick a book for me that looks interesting to him. If you have friends or a significant other this may help, also you could (this would be tedious) make tiny papers of all the books you have and put them in a jar, shake it, and make it a gamble.

I make a plan for the whole year and go by that whenever I am not really urging for one specific book.

    3. I have a few ways to choose. I ask my family, friends, or boyfriend to choose for me. I use [pickerwheel.com](https://pickerwheel.com): enter several books, then spin the wheel and read whichever book it lands on.

There’s a neat feature on StoryGraph I sometimes use. It’s not perfect, but it’s fun to mess with. The site provides general recommendations, but you can ask for more recs based on what you’re in the mood for. So if I want to read a thriller or horror, for example, I’ll ask for something dark and tense and go with something that shows up there.

    4. I just set my Goodreads to read list to random and pick the first one that seems interesting.

Right now, my method is series books. It’s not the best way, but I’ve noticed that if I like one or two in a series, it keeps me moving forward. The more I keep reading, the more I am open to keep going no matter the choices.

I’ve tried doing one-offs in the past but to no success because I never know what to follow it with.

I mood read, and typically read newer books on my list because they’re more recently on my mind. Sometimes something reminds me and I’ll go back and grab one off my TBR, but not as often. When I’m looking for a new book, I download a few free samples, read a few paragraphs and decide if I’m in the mood for that book. Doesn’t mean I won’t come back to it later, just means it wasn’t the right time.

Edit: “new” doesn’t necessarily mean recently published. Just recently interested.

In previous years I’ve used a list similar to [The 52 Book Club](https://www.the52book.club/2024-reading-challenge/) to choose my next book.

Sometimes I’ll just go to the library and grab something I’ve had on my radar, or that just looks interesting. Other times, and easiest, I just read the next book in the series I’m reading.

    8. I have an existential crisis everytime I finish a book because it means I have to pick my next one. It’s why I love series so much because I just grab the next one. But I usually narrow it down to two. Then my partner picks one randomly and says you’re reading this one next. If my first thought isn’t that’s the one I’m reading next, I pick the other one.
