A book that goes through the known history of the world but isn’t dry like most textbooks

I’ve been interested in reading something that goes covers the most ancient civilizations up to semi-modern day. The only thing that has been giving me pause is that I just can’t bring myself to read textbook like books. They are generally so dry I tend to not go beyond a few chapters. (Avid fiction reader here).

Any recommendations on this is appreciated!
