The book was in the form of a journal that I think followed a younger man / boy who was possibly on a submarine or other ship in the Pacific theatre or WW2. The only other detail I remember is that the book itself had a unique look to it as it was supposed to resemble a journal of the time and I remember it being a crimson red and the material was fake leather or meant to look like it.
