I am looking to read The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. There are tons of translations available and reviews all seem to contradict each other on which is the best, so I need further insight.
For context, I am fine with (and somewhat prefer) the eloquent and romantic styles of writing in Dumas’s time, and am not looking for an oversimplified version. I read the Penguin Classics translation of the Count of Monte Cristo and enjoyed the language it used.
I am fine with whatever length the book is so long as it is unabridged.
But I also don’t want to read one of the more unpopular translations that no one knows about, and would like your insight on which one you may have read and enjoyed.
