I can honestly only describe the kind of cosmic horror I’m interested in by telling you what I’m NOT really into. I CANNOT DO BODY HORROR; though of course Lovecraft will always have a special place in my heart, his style of cosmic horror tends to follow “ew lookit the different people and also the slime and tentacles isso icky.”

The kind of cosmic horror I desire is deeply cerebral, psychological, anything with first contact (like with Blindsight and Echopraxia) tends to be fun, but I really want stories that deal with blue and orange morality; human obsession with things better left alone; the utter insignificance of life on Earth, deep, incomprehensible curses or cosmic cycles that can’t be stopped…..to be frank, I’m a SUCKER for horrifyingly depressing stories.

*The Three-Body Problem* trilogy is on my list, as is *The King in Yellow, The Ballad of Black Tom,* and *The Imago Sequence.*

Does anyone have any other suggestions or endorsements??? I’ve been a little too confortable with my own existence; I’m craving an existential crisis, ya dig??

    Thanks, crew!
