like, whenever I’m reading, I can understand perfectly what’s happening and how it’s happening, but it’s really hard for me to picture the setting it takes place in. like, whenever a specific location is described, it’s really hard for me to picture how it is and I usually have a very bland view of the scenes – so much so I oftentimes have to look up fanarts or movie adaptations (when there are any) of a specific place or thing. is this normal?

it has a lot more to do with the physical space than anything, and I hope it made sense – than anyone else relate?

This doesn’t seem that abnormal? If you can’t visualise *any* mental image at all then it might be a medical condition, but I’m sure lots of people can’t conjure up a very detailed and interesting image in their heads just from reading a text.

Personally, I occasionally find myself frustrated at not being able to picture the scene of a passage, especially when the writer likes leaving things to imagination.

It’s probably some level of aphantasia, which is what they call it when you don’t have a strong mind’s eye. It’s not a medical condition or disability, just a flavor people come in.
