I absolutely love the psyc thriller genre. I love that they are mildly predicable because they are formulaic. I enjoy the guessing all the way through- whodunnit and what’s the motive and the satisfaction of the resolution. Even some cliffhangers.
What I don’t like about it is how poorly written a lot of them are *cough* Freida McFadden *cough*. Many read like YA novels, dialogue can be cringe and sometimes the plots ask for a lot of suspension of disbelief. I’m also frustrated with the poor use of the unreliable narrator- often it’s just blatant lying and then BAM the twist is out of left field because it doesn’t make sense.
But anyway could you please recommend a book outta this genre that isn’t analogues to watching a soap opera? TYSM
