I won’t spoil anything, but there is a TV character revealed to be a surgeon. He is continually forced to put the rich at the top of donations lists in order to keep the hospital alive. The choice to stay in that position is what I want to explore.
He is debatable a psychopath, numb, giving potential peeks at internal conflict, and completely at peace with death (whether it be his own or others). Yet he also revels in using his intelligence for survival.
I feel like there must be books that capture this dark, numb but trying to change or do good, “Millennial” feeling. All I can think of feels wrong: Ling Ma’s Severance, Warm Bodies, Schwab’s Vengeful, and The Hopkins Manuscript.
