I read Children of Ruin which has a hive mind virus kind of thing that wants to take over, doesn’t understand what taking over means to the hosts’ but as long as it’s concerned it’s all innocent wanting for exploration and spread and gather more and more experiences. Are there any books with similar character?
Maybe a first contact, or maybe the virus has been silently spreading for a long time and hosts are just starting to realize
I prefer no romance or no YA, and not too long books

*A Desolation Called Peace* might hit the spot for you! It’s a sequel, though, so you’ll need to read through hive-free *A Memory Called Empire* first.
