Man, I love reading, but I’ve noticed I do not have the ability to read one book immediately after another without feeling a little burnt from reading.

I just finished “Symphony of Secrets” by Brendan Slocumb and I’m ready for my next read, but I was curious to see how many others give themselves a breather moment before picking up the next book? If not, what’s your secret?

If I start too soon, I notice a “book hangover” is still present.

For me, it depends on the genre. I’m reading the Throne of Glass series rn (It’s trash), and I’ve been flying through the books. I’m thinking it’s a good idea to keep easier YA books on hand as something to read in between books that are a bit more conceptually thought provoking. That way you can take a break without having to actually stop reading.

      Does that make sense?

    2. No, I will literally read the last page of a book and go into my Kindle library and move onto the next as soon as I’m done. I have to read as I’m trying to wind down and fall asleep every night, it’s literally crucial, so it’s a necessity to continue reading

I like to journal about my thoughts, thematics, what I thought about a book after finishing it. Nothing too long, just a regular A5 page. That usually serves me as a palette cleanser.

If a book is a really hard or impactful read, I put in lighter reads or graphic novels after it to let it sink in a bit. Stuff I can finish it in one day and then go into the next one.
