Never heard of this author before, but I got Kobo Plus and found heir to the crown, which first book really good, it’s as far from a power fantasy as possible and tells a really grounded tale from the perspective of Gerald, a soldier. The second book (and I believe all the others in the series) switches perspective. I lost focus a bit then coincidentally stumbled upon another series of his, also by accident (power ascending) and started with the first book Temple Knight, which blew me away. Charlaine is a fantastic character and he manages to write a story around Templar Knights while making it very grounded, believable, and without the religious aspect either missing or being overly (or at all really) annoying. I’ll be reading the rest of that series as all but the latest are on Kobo Plus as well.
