I love the overarching, researched approach to answering a big question or telling a great story by drawing in a number of different disciplines. Evolutionary biology, ecological diversity, historiography, a range of cultural histories, economic development, agriculture and even physiognomy all had to be investigated and considered in Jared Diamond’s book. It is backed by great writing and an approachable tone.
Any other “big picture” books out there like this, that support a big picture with a lot of detail?

Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari is along the same lines. I think he actually includes Jared Diamond in the acknowledgments.
