I just finished The Remains of the Day and in less than 300 pages, the book managed to stir up my emotions which lingered on even after I had finished it.
Looking for recommendations on short books with a similar effect. I’m open to all genres. Thank you!

have you ever read Never Let Me Go (also by kazuo Ishiguro)? if not, i’d def recommend that one.
if you’re looking for something by a different author, The Vegetarian by Han Kang is one that lingered for me. it’s a bit more surreal than Remains, but it did stick with me
Seize The Day by Saul Bellow is even shorter at not much over 100 pages and follows a character over a single day but I think it shares similar themes with Remains of the Day. Both have male protagonists who gain insight into the failures of their lives.
