I’ve read a lot of western books. Lately I’ve read Comanche moon by McMurtry and blood meridian, both set in the very early stages of the “western period”. But I’ve become more curious about the time before that, say 1700 and onward, when the Europeans colonized the whole of America. I’d really like to read semi-historically accurate books from this period. Little is known to me what, why and how the French and Spaniards took over south America for example. I want little to none supernatural or sci-fi/fantasy elements, and not romance-focused either.
Probably not a lot to choose from here, but any takers?
Thanks in advance!
