I just don’t get it. I was really excited to read this book because I haven’t ever read a Stephen King book before and only watched movies. I chose Cujo because I like dogs. But I got all the way to chapter 14 and there have only been like 2 paragraphs about the dog! The rest he just drones on and on and on about these people? But they aren’t interesting characters so it’s like torture. I was listening to it super intently because I thought to myself that these vivid descriptions of people and the main family must have some point to the story. But I got so far and there is nothing. I expected a horror and it was putting me to sleep. I was driving by myself at night and listening to the audiobook for an 8 hour drive and I had to just turn it off because I was falling asleep. If you asked me what exactly happened the past 14 chapters (14 doesn’t sound like much but these chapters were LONG) I couldn’t even tell you because it was that uninteresting.

Yeah, you didn’t pick his best work. Try again with IT, Misery, Salem’s Lot or The Shining. If feeling less ambitious, Skeleton Crew (short stories).
I didn’t like the book of Cujo but enjoyed the movie. Personally I would read either The Shining or Pet Sematary. They are the Stephen King books I enjoyed the most.
I’m sure the coke binge King was on while writing Cujo was much more exciting than the book itself.
