I’m visiting a friend next week and am interested in a book to read on the trip. I’ll be visiting the islands for the first time. So I’m interested in a book with information on HI’s natural history, sociology/culture, and ecology. It can be fiction or nonfiction.
I loved reading Peter Matthiesen’s Snow Leopard in Nepal, so something along those lines would be first. Thanks in advance!

If, after your trip, you want to keep some of that feeling consider reading The Hands of the Emperor, a fantasy book by Virginia Goddard. It’s fantasy, so it’s not Polynesian but it has a lot in common with that culture.
