Reading the latest translation (I believe) by Oliver Ready because I heard it was easier than the old ones and there are great translation notes to go with it too (Which there are. It’s a great effort.) and I am having trouble with it.

The book is wonderful. I am constantly jumping between liking and not liking Raskolnikov and it’s crazy. Part 1 was very engaging But every time he questions himself and the flow gets a little hazy and philosophical, I get a lump in my chest and feel like I need to stop. I have no clue why it’s happening when it has never happened before with any other book. But with this one, I genuinely feel like I need to stop at certain points. I don’t know if it’s the translation because it *is* an easy book to read, just a little nauseating at times. I suppose this is the St. Petersburg that Dostoyevsky wants to show.
