Hello, first time posting here.
I’m interested in fiction, fantasy, mystical, mystery, gothic, books from different cultures, short stories, and re-reads from childhood.
Example:
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
It’s amazing. If you haven’t read it I recommend it.
Short stories ex: The Lottery by Shirley Jackson and Thank You Ma’am by Langston Hughes
Re-reads: Narnia series, Grimm/Hans Anderson tales, A Wrinkle in Time, The Series of Unfortunate Events. I re-read them as an adult and man does it hit different. I also started off with the Magician’s s Nephew (the first of the Narnia series) It’s really good. I didn’t even know that was the first one!
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi it’s a beautiful and traumatic fiction book. It’s a timeline of a historical account of short stories about a family separated because of slavery and it’s generational effects.
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia it’s a mystical fiction set in 1920s, México and it’s based off the Mayan empire.
Does anyone want to participate in a discussion about any of these books or recommend similar books?
