I’m looking for books that have the same feel as the movies I named above. Something that has apprehension, dread, and slow revealing of a monster type figure. Preferably something that has more action than dialogue, but still has a main theme of fear and dread that is almost inescapable, and some sort of monster or evil force. I have read The Children of Red Peak, which was close to that sort of feel to me, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the supernatural ending.

The Terror by Dan Simmons. It’s long, but the book is full of dread with a constant sense of impending doom. It’s about a mid 19th century expedition that gets trapped in the Arctic and stalked by a horrific monster
