If you need a bit more context as to the genre I’m oh so craving a character that comes to mind is Roran from Christopher Pallonis “The Inheritance Cycle”
In a world filled with magic, dragons, and monsters beyond any man’s comprehension. Roran has a hammer and a shield, and carves his way through battlefield after battlefield. The mere man wrestling giant monsters bare handed, triumphing time and time again in battles he had no place being in. Roran did it all because he had the will and grit to do it. I desperately want another character or book that incapsulates this amazing feeling and absolute badass mindset .
Please give me some assistance friends!

The Acts of Caine series by Mathew Stover

{{Son of the Black Sword, by Corriea}}
{{The Diamond Throne, by Eddings}}
And, though it takes 14 books to get there, you probably can’t beat the ending of the Wheel of Time. {{The Eye of the World, by Jordan}}
Legend by David Gemmell is exactly what you’re looking for
She who became the sun. The protagonist goes against big odds & suffers through a lot to get to the ending. The book is more historical than fantasy, but does have fantasy elements.
If you’re looking for a fantasy that’s both fun and thought-provoking, ‘Discworld’ by Terry Pratchett, beginning with ‘The Color of Magic,’ is my recommendation. Pratchett’s satirical take on fantasy tropes, combined with his incisive social commentary, makes for a highly entertaining read.
