Has anyone read Armor by John Steakley? When it comes to military sci-fi I’d say it’s recommended as much as the Forever War.
That aside, is there a point to the Jack Crow section of the book? Armor starts off utterly amazing and then it seems to stutter step every page after that. Just a bunch of people talking and things happening comic book style (where you have to assume something happened to continue the plot).
I’m really struggling with the read. The writing style is great it’s just the story.
The first section with Felix is unreal amazing. Slaughterhouse 5 is the last time I read something that so accurately captured the absurdity and horror of war. But unlike Slaughterhouse 5, Armor just sorta wanders off into the middle of nowhere to pick and grass and stare at clouds.
Does the story actually coalesce into something? (I’m 51% through it)

Yes, there is a huge point to the jack crow stuff. Finish the book, it’s great.
