When I was a teen (30 now) twilight series legit saved me. I was being bullied and was suicidal so I’d escape to what I knew (the series, which I swear I read at least 15 times) and I’m looking for new, not cringy middle-age vampire books lol
I like: sci fi, thrillers, mysteries, fantasy, LGBTQ YA. Not a huge romance or comedy person but I’d maybe look into them.
Can be a series or single book.
No non fiction or self help please

I went through a really traumatic breakup a few years ago. I was so sad I did not want to eat, sleep or do anything at all. I read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green and for a few days I completely forogt about everything for a few days. There’s a sequel to it, but I haven’t read it, so it’s technically a series.
My favorite book I read in the last like 10+ years probably was the priory of the orange tree by Samantha Shannon. It’s really long (800 pages) but it’s an awesome epic fantasy and fairly easy to read too. It has dragons, magic, witches, war, friendship, assassins, and some romance. Kinda cool cuz the two romances mentioned are both gay (one M/M and one F/F) it’s definitely not the focus of the story at all though and no graphic sex scenes.
Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir helped me through my college years, especially when needing escapism or feeling lonely or aimless
In adulthood, The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison impacted me hugely and I think of it often when I need to remember to keep kindness and love in mind
